Plan and billing

Each plan includes an amount of usage a month for Pip's work for your business: drafting and checking replies, reading your documents and answering in Ask Pip. Replies your team writes with Write a reply don't count.

PlanUsage includedPrice
FreeAbout 50 replies a monthFree
StarterAbout 200 replies a month€29 a month
GrowthAbout 810 replies a month€99 a month
ScaleAbout 2,600 replies a month€299 a month

The number of replies is an estimate: a long email, a long thread or many documents to read use more than a short question.

Usage this month

Settings > Plan and billing shows how much of this month's usage is used, as a percentage, and when it resets: at the start of the first day of each month (UTC). If usage is going faster than the month allows, it also shows the day it would run out at this pace.

Near the end of this month's usage

From 75% and again from 90% of this month's usage, Today and Settings show a notice. Owners can upgrade to the next plan from the notice; on Scale, email Airmailer for more usage. Members see the same notice and can ask an owner to upgrade.

Owners also get an email at 75%, at 90% and at 100% of this month's usage, and when extra usage reaches its limit: one each a month, with a link to Settings > Plan and billing.

When this month's usage is used up

At 100%, Pip stops drafting replies until the usage resets on the first of the month, until an owner upgrades the plan, or, on a paid plan, while Extra usage is on:

  • Customer emails still arrive in the Inbox. Each one Needs a reply, and the conversation says why, with a link to Settings > Plan and billing.
  • Rewrite with Pip and Ask Pip are unavailable, and say so.
  • Today and Settings say when Pip drafts again.

As soon as the usage resets or the upgrade goes through, Pip drafts replies to the emails that waited, oldest first. An email that waited more than 7 days stays with your team, so a late reply never crosses one your team already sent.

Extra usage

On a paid plan, an owner can turn on Extra usage in Settings > Plan and billing and choose a monthly limit: €10, €25, €50, €100 or €250. When this month's usage is used up, Pip keeps drafting until that much extra usage is used. It costs more per reply than a plan's usage, so a bigger plan is the better deal if you use extra usage every month.

  • Settings shows how much extra usage is used this month, in euros, beside the limit.
  • What is used is billed with the next payment, on the same invoice as the plan.
  • When the limit is reached, Pip stops drafting until the first of the month, or until an owner raises the limit or upgrades. Owners get an email when that happens.
  • Turning it off, or lowering the limit, takes effect straight away. Turning it on, or raising the limit, asks first.

Extra usage isn't available on Free: upgrade to a paid plan instead.

Choosing a plan

Open Settings > Plan and billing and choose a plan. Payment is handled by Polar, which also sends invoices and handles sales tax. The plan changes as soon as Polar confirms the payment, usually within a few seconds. Only owners can change the plan.

Changing or cancelling

After you pay for a plan, Manage billing opens Polar's customer portal. There you can switch plans, update your card, download invoices or cancel. A cancelled plan lasts until the end of the period you paid for; then your business moves to Free.

If a payment fails, Settings > Plan and billing shows it; update your card in Manage billing.
